She & He

She and He met for the first time in an engineering College in Kerala.{(Oopz , Sorry I am not He and my Ex or Futura is not She). This is one story for all those He's and She's who have consulted me at various stages of their relationships}.He felt weak in his knees after seeing She and She could understand that he is feeling weak in his knees. She wanted to tell He that She loved He but like all those feminist girls waited for some months so that He could run around the trees , could give her enough hints and could at last ask She out for a date .

The date went fine and when He saw She yawning three times (He Counted) , they called it a day on the first date . They again dated and went on and on and on till the engineering College which was in Kottayam heard four christmas bells from various catholic ,marthoma and jacobite churches surrounding it.You can visualise me washing my hands with water , at this stage of relationship since I studied in Kochi.

He wanted to marry She after engineering and vice versa {Every Action has an Equal and Opposite Reaction , Some Isac had told once}. Now He and She follow different religions. There were innumerable roadblocks in the form of parents , relatives and other villians on the way but since all of you have seen the same roadblocks in umpteen Bollywood , Kollywood , Mollywood and Sandalwood movies , I am not elaborating. After marriage She went to live with He and in laws. Shortly after that He and She shifted to Bangalore and He started working for Infosys like so many He's in our generation. The big MBA bug bit both She and He after two years and they eventually got admission in two of the best B Schools in this country five years after their marriage.

As all of us know MBA is the place where you learn jackshit in forms like SWOT , BCG , Portfolio and umpteen other arbit and shady fundaes before you get a good placement. She got into the best FMCG in this country and he got into the IT company which paid the highest inhand in 2006 placements.

He started working in Delhi , then went to Mumbai and then to Bangalore on various assignments. Now He and She are in soup (Hot and Sour Chicken ) since She is three months pregnant . Last week, He lands up at She's place and none of He's tricks worked to appease her. Too much water has flown under the bridge since they met in the engineering college and She had burnt her bridges (apologies for the corny clichés).

A sad He came to NariyalChutney for suggestion and the problems were discussed over three bottles of Smirnoff Vodka in a posh Delhi Pub .Five minutes back He went to the cabin of VP-HR to handover his resignation . He Quit and is going to Mumbai to join another job with a 50% pay rise (Courtsey Nariyal Chutney) . She is happy and NariyalChutney is also happy for both He and She and the little one.Happy New Year He , She and the Little one and to you too dear reader :P.May god bless you all with a prosperous new year ahead.

Blessy Movies - A Different Class

When I walked out of the theatre after watching Palunku , I felt as if I had just completed reading an Aeosope story with good morals and invariably I started comparing it with the previous movies by the same director.

One thing that is unique about the three Blessy movies are that they give sensible cinema through middle class stories to which all Keralites can identify .It is about families and family members who are united in their love but had to suffer from the brunt of external forces which they could not control. If Kazcha was about an innocent film maker, Madhavan in Kuttanad and Thanmatra was about a middle class Govt.Employee , Rameshan Nair in Trivandrum then Palunku is the story of a farmer in Idukki District , Monichan who loses his values and principles when the movie reaches the end. Government , Disease and a Rape , the villian in each of these movies.

There is a certian unique pattern about the movies by Blessy Ipe Thomas triggering those nostalgic memories in the minds of all Keralites . It is not a pattern of hero winning heroine in the end or a police officer thrashing villians at the end or killing them in a bomb explosion . This Pattern evokes the memories of middle class values , of back waters , of warm moments in the villages in interior Kerala , of al those farmers and who toiled hard in their fields day in and day out(Palunku) , of so many parents who wanted their offsprings to study and excel (Thanmatra) and of simple people in inetrior Kerala (Kazcha) who has still not lost out there innocence in this big wild world and so on.

Monichan played by Mammootty and his idyllic village in first half is nothing but he old Kerala and the town to which they shift for the education of their children is nothing but New Kerala . Somewhere in the middle in his race for money when he is trying to embrace consumersim like so many of us Monichan loses his way and slowly his values and then control and at the end he has to pay the price . A story told and re told so many times in many Malayalam , Hindi , tamil and I am sure a lot of other languages . What matters here is that Blessy does it with effortless ease , with such simplicity and spicing it up with humour.

The movie shows everything from farmer suicides to American Achayans and anyone who is aware about the social relalities and the dividing gulf between the rich and poor in Consumerist Kerala will appreciate what Blessy is trying to say.Monichan , somehow reminded me of the character he played in Raapakal sometime last year.
When Mamootty plays characters like Monichan , there is a difference and somehow we sympathise with him when he goes with the prostitute and tries to convert black money instead of hating him , like a normal villain.Jagathy , the female lead and the kids have also done commendable jobs.

Already waiting for the next film from Blessy to see what he wants to tell the audience and whether he will be able to carry the torch of meaningful movies forward.

Malayalam Film Industry should take lessons from Australian Cricket Team(?)

It seems that one of the rising stars in Malayalam Film Industry who did a part of his education in Australia urged Malayalam Film Industry to take some lessons from Australian Cricket Team as reported by some leading dailies . We saw the quote while travelling in Alleppy Express from Chennai to Kochi. We won't reveal the star but if you are wondering what lessons Malayalam Film Industry can take from the best cricket team in the world , then compare the Snaps below.

We want to clarify that this is what the star assumed after comparing Malayalam film Industry with Australian Cricket Team.

UDF caused chikungunya and dengue :O

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has blamed the previous Congress-led United Democratic Front(UDF) government for the outbreak of chikungunya and dengue and other dangerous diseases in the State's health scenario

The conclusion that we can derive is that the virus was dormant in the UDF regime and became active in the LDF regime. How Intelligent?

Some body who have the same traits of intelligence is former U S Vice President Al Gore.

Padakali.... at the Wanderers, starring Sreesanth

Sreesanth did a dance straight out of a Malayalam Blockbuster at the Wanderers in South Africa .After whacking a six off Andre Nel,we saw S Sreesanth dancing down the wicket, swinging his bat around in the air

Nariyal Chutney did an investigation in Kerala and found out that Malayalis are unanimous in their opinion about his Inspiration .

Take a Guess?

Yes , It is MAMMOOTTY . The Song was Padakali but the step was inspired by the best(?) dancer in Malayalam Movie Industry , The Superstar Mammootty .

Anybody who can prove me wrong can get a ticket to a free Mammooty dancing session (Sorry , It is fully booked )choreographed by Shiamak Davar for a Himesh Reshammiya Song.
